Drafting Fundamentals - How to Divide a Line Segment Into Several Parts Using Autocad 2004

Solidworks This article is going to explain how to use AutoCAD 2004 to divide a line segment into several segments or parts. Let's say for arguments sake I am working as a drafter in a factory somewhere and I got an where I need to divide a line into several equal divisions.
This is not very hard to do in AutoCAD using the OSNAP (object snap) setting. The best way for me to do this without using a calculator would be for me to draw the line that needs to be divided. And then for me go to the Tools pull down menu and click on drafting settings and clear all check boxes except for the one next to node.
Now I am ready to use my divide command. Again, there is more than one way to invoke the divide command. I could either type "divide" on the command line or go to the draw pull down menu and click point and then select divide. When the divide command is active I am asked to select the object to divide. After selecting my line I am asked for the number of segments or block. I enter the number of segments I want and press enter and it appears that nothing happened, but AutoCAD has put a node at the segment divisions.
All I have to do now is invoke my line command and turn on my OSNAP and draw my lines from the nodes and there I have my line divided into as many segments as I need or want.
